Head north if you seriously
want to raise your performance.
If you want to take your passion for driving to the next level‚ nothing beats motorsport and Northern BM has been involved in the activities of the BMW Car Club of Victoria since Day 1 and Phillip Showers has been a real driver (in every sense) in the move from club track days to real race competition through the club’s E30 Racing category.
Using the E30 325i as its basis, E30 Racing has introduced many club members to the joys of relatively inexpensive motorsport, where the emphasis is on driving ability rather than outspending ability. Northern BM has now built the lion’s share of the cars used in this category and can prepare a car to your exact specification, from sourcing the donor car, organising the roll-cage and all the necessary modifications to preparing it for your arrival at the track.
E30 race cars now compete in the Improved Production category of the Victorian State race meetings and some have also taken part, along with other BMWs prepared by Northern BM, in tarmac rallies including the Trading Post Grand Prix Rally, Dutton Rally, Targa Tasmania and Rally Tasmania.
The results for Northern BM customers speak for themselves:
- 1st in the E30 Championship of 2001;
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the E30 Championship of 2003;
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the E30 Championship of 2004;
- 1st and 2nd in class at Rally Tasmania 2003 and 2004;
- 1st in class at Targa Tasmania in 2003;
- 1st in class at the Rally of Burnie in 2004;
- 11th outright and the first BMW home in the 2004 G.P. Rally.
To find out more about this exciting category, go to www.e30racing.com.au or speak to Phillip at Northern BM. On the other hand, you may simply want to use this race-bred knowledge to make your ultimate driving machine go even harder.

Either way, when you strap yourself into any car - a BMW or a lesser machine - to push it and yourself to the limit, you want to know you can trust that everything has been prepared to the highest level of professionalism and integrity. That’s what puts the Northern BM team in a different class.
